Who gets care, and who waits

Everyone should get the right healthcare. Not everyone does.

Some people wait years for an assessment others get in weeks. Some die decades earlier than people a few miles away. We publish the data on who the health system reaches and who it misses — by disability, ethnicity, income, age and where someone lives — and we give it away.

  • Open and fully sourced: every figure cites the return it came from
  • Free to read, free to quote and free to reuse with credit
  • Written for the people and charities it is about

Our research

Healthcare research, on the people it affects

All 63 studies

Open, fully-sourced data studies on how healthcare access and outcomes differ between groups of people. Each one shows its sources, so a charity, a journalist or a researcher can check every number and reuse it.

Why we do this

We care about one thing: people getting the right type of health care.

Where you live, what you earn, the colour of your skin and whether you are disabled all change how quickly you are seen, how well you are listened to and how long you live. Most of that is measured somewhere and published nowhere anyone can use. Better Health For Everyone pulls those figures together, cites them properly and makes them free, so the people arguing for better care have something solid to argue with.

✓

People before products. We start from who someone is and what care they need, not from anything that needs selling.

✓

Research, free to cite. Open, fully-sourced studies on how healthcare works for different groups of people. Take them and use them.

✓

Independent and small. Run day to day by James and Rachael — a couple, not a faceless content factory.

How the research is made

Every number has a source you can open.

Published data, not estimates. Figures come from official returns and peer-reviewed work — NHS statistics, ONS data, government reviews and published studies. Where a figure is contested, we say so.

Cited at the point of use. Each study lists its sources with the body, the publication and the date, so you can check a number against the original rather than taking our word for it.

No number without a date. Health data ages. Every study carries the period its figures cover and when we last checked them, so you can see how current it is before you quote it.

Free to reuse. Quote it, chart it, put it in a funding bid or a consultation response. A link back is welcome but not a condition. If you need the data cut a different way, ask us.

Who runs Better Health For Everyone

Owned by James and Rachael

Better Health For Everyone is owned and run by a couple — James and Rachael — who care about all people getting the right type of healthcare. Every study is researched and reviewed by us, and if a page ever leaves you with a question, write to us and a person will reply. We built this because the gaps in who gets care are measurable, and almost nobody was putting the measurements somewhere ordinary people could use them.
